The sticker price is the smallest line item. FX, mandatory bundles, compliance work, and per-tier minimums are what actually decide whether a tool is affordable in Kingston, Bridgetown, Port of Spain, Hamilton, or George Town.
How to read the table
List is what the vendor publishes in USD. Effective is what a Caribbean SMB actually pays once card FX (typically 1–3%), GCT/VAT where applicable, and any mandatory companion seat are included. Best for and Caveat are based on engagements we've run with regional SMBs.

Caribbean cost realities most vendor calculators miss
- FX and card fees. USD-priced SaaS paid on a JMD, TTD, BBD, BMD, or KYD card usually lands 1–3% above list once the issuer's FX margin is applied.
- GCT, VAT, and digital services taxes. Jamaica's GCT and similar regional taxes can apply to imported digital services. Confirm with your accountant — it materially changes the per-seat number.
- Mandatory companion seats. Copilot needs an M365 Business seat. Notion AI needs a Notion Plus seat. The "add-on" price is never the all-in price.
- Data residency & compliance. Jamaica DPA 2020, Bermuda PIPA, Cayman DPL, T&T DPA, and Barbados DPA each impose obligations on cross-border processing. Budget for a DPIA on any tool touching client or employee data.
- Connectivity degradation. Real-time, browser-heavy assistants suffer when bandwidth drops. Async-friendly tools (drafts, summaries, scheduled outputs) usually outperform live-only ones in regional conditions.
